About

In the mid-1890’s Mr. Otis Lyman conveyed the community Hall property to “the people of Magnolia Springs.” Over the declared the Hall has been the venue for a range of community activities, from dances to St Paul’s’s Episcopal Chapel Sunday School classes, from BoyScout and Girl Scout troop meetings to potluck dinner, from fundraising teas to exercises classes, from birthday parties to traveling performances.

On November 9, 1953, the incorporation document of the Magnolia Springs community Association (MSCA) was recorded by the Baldwin County Judge of Probate, W.R. Stewart. The incorporation papers included the roster of the MSCA’s first duly elected Board of Directors. The MSCA’s incorporation formalized decades of civic involvement by residents of Magnolia Springs, including the work of Magnolia Springs Improvement Association, the MSCA’s predecessor organization.

On January 8, 2001 The Circuit Court of Baldwin County, Alabama decreed that the Magnolia Springs Community Association represents the “people of Magnolia Springs”, and thus is responsible for the Community Hall and property. The all-volunteer board of the Magnolia Springs Community Association oversees the management of the property and relies upon the support of the MSCA membership and Magnolia Springs residents to insure the future of its existence. On April 18, 2008, the MSCA was recognized as a tax-exempt non profit 501 (c) (3) organization by the Internal Revenue Service. In 2016, the MSCA completed the last phase of a multi-year restoration and renovation of the Community Hall, adding improved kitchen and restroom facilities, and stabilizing the foundation (literally) for another century of community activity.

Since the MSCA is a 501(c)(3), donations are tax-deductible. Donations are crucial in maintaining the circa -1894 community Hall, funding the MSCA’s community outreach scholarship program and helping pay the ongoing operating expenses of the facility. The MSCA also raises money for these needs through sales of a community cookbook, various merchandise items, a Tour of Homes and other activities including the annual A Redbird Christmas activities.

Please support your MSCA by participating in community activities, joining the Assoication and sending your donation to MSA PO Box 6 Magnolia Springs, AL 36555.
